NEW PATIENT SAFETY GOAL FROM JCAHO

A new patient safety goal from JCAHO for 2008 that the laboratory needs to be informed of is:

  • GOAL 3E: Reduce the likelihood of patient harm associated with the use of anticoagulation therapy.

Having a good understanding of how your reagent performs and providing accurate heparin therapeutic ranges will help to ensure safety.
