Medicago Absolute Lectins are a premium line of affinity-purified plant lectins with defined and guaranteed minimum specific carbohydrate-binding activity — providing researchers with lectins where activity specification, not just protein purity, is certified per lot.

In standard lectin preparations, protein purity is verified by SDS-PAGE but specific carbohydrate-binding activity can vary significantly between lots due to differences in oligomeric state, denaturation during purification, or loss of metal co-factors — critical for calcium and manganese-dependent lectins such as Con A, LCA, and PSA.

Medicago Absolute Lectins address this variability by specifying minimum hemagglutination activity or carbohydrate inhibition titre per milligram of protein on each lot certificate, providing a functional activity guarantee in addition to purity verification.
