The XenoScreen YES (Yeast Estrogen Screen) kit uses a recombinant Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain expressing the human estrogen receptor alpha (hERα) fused to a lacZ reporter — results are expressed as estradiol equivalent quantities (EEQ) from a 17β-estradiol standard curve and validated for surface water, wastewater, and sediment extracts per ISO 19040-1.
The XenoScreen YAS (Yeast Androgen Screen) kit uses a recombinant S. cerevisiae strain expressing the human androgen receptor (hAR) fused to lacZ — quantifying both androgenic agonist activity (expressed as DHT equivalents, DHTEQ) and anti-androgenic antagonist activity in the same assay format.
Both kits are accepted for regulatory submissions under REACH, the EU Water Framework Directive, and OECD Conceptual Framework for endocrine disruptor testing.
