Quillaja saponin is a mild, reversible membrane permeabilization agent used to create temporary pores in cholesterol-containing cell membranes without disrupting overall cell morphology. Applications include intracellular flow cytometry staining, immunofluorescence of intracellular antigens, immunocytochemistry, and vaccine adjuvant research. Saponin-permeabilized cells reseal after washing, allowing staining of cytoplasmic and nuclear targets.
