5-ELISA ADAMTS-13 Antigen is a sandwich ELISA (RUO) kit for measuring ADAMTS-13 antigen in human plasma or other biological fluids. ADAMTS-13 is an endothelial enzyme that cleaves ultra-large vWF multimers to smaller polymers. Lack of ADAMTS-13 activity or its inhibition (e.g., by autoantibodies) leads to survival of ultra-large vWF multimers in plasma, inducing platelet hyper-aggregability with embolic diseases. The vWF/ADAMTS-13 ratio (both measured by ELISA) has been reported as a good prognosis marker for future thrombo-embolism. ADAMTS-13 is now available in recombinant form to treat patients with ADAMTS-13 deficiencies, and this ELISA can be used to test and monitor recovery in treated patients.
