TA100 detects base-pair substitution mutagens (primarily G:C→T:A transversions) and is the most sensitive and broadly reactive Ames tester strain. It carries pKM101 (error-prone repair plasmid, ampicillin resistance) and the uvrB deletion (impaired excision repair). TA100 detects the widest spectrum of mutagens and is mandatory in all OECD 471, ICH S2(R1), and EPA OPPTS 870.5100 regulatory panels. Store at -70°C.
