Pre-formulated Vogel-Bonner minimal glucose agar reagents for preparation of the minimal glucose overlay plates used in the traditional Ames test plate incorporation and preincubation methods per OECD TG 471.

Minimal glucose agar is the selective base medium for the traditional plate Ames test. The histidine auxotrophy of Salmonella tester strains (his⁻) prevents growth on this medium unless a reverse mutation to his⁺ prototrophy occurs. Only revertant colonies can grow — making colony count directly proportional to mutagenic potency.
