Medicago SmartBuffers® pre-formulated tablet — dissolves in 500 mL of deionized water to prepare Tris Buffered Saline (TBS) pH 7.6. GMP manufactured by Medicago AB (Uppsala, Sweden). For research use. Available worldwide.

SmartBuffers® eliminate the need to weigh individual buffer salts — each pre-measured tablet dissolves in the specified volume to deliver precise pH, molarity, and ionic strength. Reduces preparation time, eliminates weighing error, and ensures reproducible buffer composition batch-to-batch. TBS is preferred over PBS for Western blotting when alkaline phosphatase detection systems are used, since phosphate can interfere with AP-based detection. Also used in immunohistochemistry, ELISA washing, and protein work requiring phosphate-free buffering.

Product Components

Medicago's TBS buffer is supplied as pre-weighed tablets in bottles and in blister packs or as powder in sealed pouches. One tablet or the contents of one pouch gives 500 ml or 1000 ml of buffer solution in the compositions:

1. 1 x solution; 0.05 M Tris buffered saline, 0.138 M sodium chloride, 0.0027 M potassium chloride with pH 8.0 at 25°C.
2. 10 x solution; 0.5 M Tris buffered saline, 1.38 M sodium chloride, 0.027 M potassium chloride with pH 8.0 at 25°C.
3. 1 x solution; 0.05 M Tris-HCl buffer, 0.15 M sodium chloride with pH 7.6 at 25°C.
