MicroAmes6 Penta 4 is a miniaturized 5-strain Ames mutagenicity test in 6-well plate format — an intermediate format between the traditional Petri dish test (MacroAmes1) and the fully miniaturized 384-well liquid microplate format (Ames MPF). 2-sample complete kit.

In the Ames test, Salmonella strains with his⁻ auxotrophy cannot grow without histidine. Only strains reverting to his⁺ prototrophy form colonies on minimal medium; a mutagen increases revertant frequency proportional to its potency.
